Carving Arena 2020
2020 saw a record number of applications for the Scottish Open Chainsaw Carving Competition. We are very grateful to those Carvers who, despite the pandemic agreed to enter the Virtual Carve Carrbridge instead.
Technology that was a challenge for us all last year has enabled them to bring to you, in just a few minutes, what they would normally achieve in 4 hrs.
As we couldn’t get the wood to them they have kindly created their competition piece from what they had locally.
Please view finished carvings in detail by zooming in with the + button.
Timelapse videos will let you see the process. Each carving, created in the usual manner in 4 hrs, chainsaw only with burning permitted.
Although Carve Carrbridge supplied the T shirts the Carvers supplied their own wood and we are thankful for those who have competed this year.
The popular People’s Choice went ahead through online voting and our judging panel met to decide the winning carvings too..
Voting closed at 3.30 and the winners were announced at 4pm by the one and only Mr Graeme Allsop. Having hung up his real mic in 2019 we were delighted to welcome him back ‘virtually’ for this unique event and maybe again for the reboot in 2022 fingers crossed.
Although we can’t bring you our Grand Auction, the Carvings are for sale by contacting the Carvers directly. Their details here.
