Carrbridge, Strathspey, Inverness-shire, Scotland

Carrbridge is a picturesque village located in Stathspey beneath the Monadhliath (Grey) Mountains. A village with local character, excellent access to the surrounding countryside, it's wildlife and many outdoor sporting activities.

Less busy than Aviemore which is six miles south, but as good a location to explore the Highlands.

Famous for it's 1717 packhorse bridge which crosses the River Dulnain. The bridge was damaged in the great flood of 1829. The Dulnain flows into the River Spey downstream of Dulnain Bridge. Also of note is Sluggan Bridge on the old General Wade road.

There is a choice of hotels, bars, eating places and shops. Tourist attractions include the very popular Landmark Forest Heritage Park.

There are many woodland walks around the village and along old droving roads. Access into the Monadhliath Mountains which are part of the Southern Grampians. You should see red and roe deer, red squirrels, buzzards, siskins, and many more. If you are lucky you may see ospreys, golden eagles, Scottish crossbills, pinemartins, and even wild cats.

Sporting facilities include a nine hole golf course, outdoor curling rink, bowling green and pony trekking centre. Access to Cairngorm and Lecht ski centres. Carrbridge is on National Cycle Route 7 (Glasgow to Inverness) including off road route to Slochd via Sluggan.

Carrbridge is within the new Cairngorm National Park.
